Stanford, California — February 26, 2018 — WorldStrides Excel, the nation’s largest and most trusted sports travel provider, has partnered with the 2017 NCAA National Champion, Stanford Cardinal women’s soccer team. WorldStrides Excel will provide the team a once-in-a-lifetime competitive international soccer tour to Spain.

Stanford University women’s soccer will be traveling to Barcelona and Madrid, Spain in March 2018 to train and compete against elite Spanish clubs including Espanyol and Atletico Madrid. While traveling on their competitive journey, Stanford will be enjoying numerous other soccer and cultural excursions throughout Spain including guided sightseeing and walking tours, training sessions and visits to the homes of two of the most recognizable clubs in the world, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Known as one of the most elite institutions for academics and athletics, Stanford University is home to the best women’s soccer program in the country. While rising to the ranks to win the NCAA Women’s College Cup and being crowned NCAA National Champions, the Stanford Cardinal had been ranked number one in the country for the majority of the season, won the Pac-12 Conference Championship and currently fields the reigning ESPNW Player of the Year.

“Coming off of our National Championship season, we are excited to build on that success and travel abroad to Spain with WorldStrides Excel Sports. I am grateful that our program will be playing against Espanyol and Atletico Madrid while experiencing the peak of Spanish soccer culture through our immersive visits to FC Barcelona and Real Madrid,” said Hideki Nakada, Assistant Coach of Stanford University Women’s Soccer.

“We are beyond excited to be working with the reigning NCAA national women’s soccer champion,” said Eric McAleer, Senior Vice President of WorldStrides Excel Sports. “Taking this great team to Spain will provide its players the opportunity to compete against other elite soccer teams while gaining a newfound perspective on European soccer culture.”
